Going a little nuts… and I don’t mean peanuts

The crazy pandemic sweeping the world is changing the lives of nearly every person on this planet. As an American, people are very divided and sometimes it is just too much to handle. One side versus the other instead of seeing that both sides have some right and some wrong. People are too easily swayed to hate, too easily swayed to believe media hype that already supports their preconceived notions on both sides and it makes me sad and it makes me angry. This poem was written in reaction to everything. Take it as you will… some might like it, some might hate it, but as a human living in a supposed free country, I am allowed my right to feel and express those feelings whether you agree with me or not.

Let me out

Let me out
I’m screaming
Let me out
My ears are bleeding

Trapped inside
I cannot hide
Being torn in two
I’m not like you

Stuck hovering
I’m screaming
Media lying
Nobody trying

To see the truth
Built out of lies
No one will reach
Across the divide

Yelling death threats
You can’t see my tears
Let me out
I’m screaming

You can’t hear
Your ears are bleeding
Can’t see my side
Tell me to hide

But I see the truth
No more lies
It’s not about them
It’s about the divide

I’m not right
I’m not left
I’m hanging over the cliff
Alone

Let me out
I’m screaming
We all will die
If we don’t try

Come see
The middle side
Come see
No need to hide

There is no smoke
From my point of view
There’s only you
Red-faced and angry

Let me out
I’m screaming
Let me out
My ears are bleeding

I need my life
To be like before
Don’t come knocking
At my door

I’m not like you
I like outside
I’m not afraid
I will not hide

Death comes for us all
I will not fall
For your tricks
Or lies

Let me out
I’m screaming
Screaming to get out
Let me out

My ears are bleeding
Screaming to be free
