Looking in the Mirror

We spent a couple nights camping at a state park and the first night it poured down rain. The kids were riding bikes and scooters, jumping in puddles. It was a great night. After the rain passed this was the sunset. It was too beautiful not to capture.

The following poem is one I wrote thinking about myself. The ultimate question in life, who am I? We aren’t just one thing, we are many things to many different people. Who we are affects everyone around. It is vital to self-reflect and determine if we are being the best we can be.

Reflection
Who am I?
What is my purpose?
Will I reach my potential, or will I fail miserably?
How did I get to this place,
Questioning everything and seeing the world in a new way?

I am a woman, a mother, a friend, a wife,
A writer, a poet, a song writer.
I wipe away tears, and kiss boo boos.
I’m a shoulder to cry on,
A friend to those in need,
A sympathetic ear,
Or a heavy dose of reality.

I am strength for the weak,
Warmth for the freezing,
Shelter for your tender heart.

Count on me, I’m here for you,
As you are here for me.
