Finding Yourself

The path to self discovery is different for everyone. Some people need to be alone, others need to immerse themselves into something, but no matter your method it is important to know who you are and what you want out of life. But true introspection can be very hard. Nobody wants to see what they have done wrong or the mistakes they have made. For me, my first marriage and hopefully my only divorce was a great transition that led me to a better, happier me. This poem isn’t really about my divorce, but about how sometimes, change in our lives can fuel the path to who we truly are.

Repair My Fragile Heart

I’m on the edge of the bed
We’re an arms length apart
Please tell me what I did
To make you break my heart

My world is changing
And I can’t seem to keep up
Please tell me what I did
To make my world erupt

It used to be so different
Before it all got broken
It used to be so different
Before we had even spoken

I’m on the edge of a cliff
We’re miles apart
Tell me what you did
To break my fragile heart

Different, but the same
A walking contradiction
Please don’t say my name
I need to find my satisfaction

What am I to be?
What does my future hold?
I want you all to see
I have found my future me.

I’m on the edge of a cliff
We’re miles apart
Tell me what I did
To repair my fragile heart
