This most recent poem is a conglomeration of all of my past/current relationships. All people are affected by those that we surround ourselves with and sometimes the people we love the most, we also have feelings of hate. Sometimes the people we hate, we can also feel different types of love for them. This poem was inspired by that dichotomy.
Love and Hate
You love me and you hate
By Sarah Gratton
Yell at me degrade me
Hold my cheek and kiss me
Tell me I am beautiful
Pound your fists like an ape
There is a fine line between love and hate.
You love me and you hate me
Manipulate me
Hold my hand, sweet smiles
Tell me I am the only one
Do dishes while I’m on a run
There is a fine line between love and hate.
You love me and you hate me
Ignore me till its too late
Hold our child warmly
Tell me were a family
Wrap your arms around me
There is a fine line between love and hate.
Some days we feel hate the most
Consuming us completely
Anger boils inside us both
No longer has a place to hide
Some days we feel love the most
Taking control of us
Dripping out our pores
But anger still hides inside
There is a fine line between love and hate.
