Light of the World

My whole perspective on the world is changing, my reality flipping like a skateboarder on a half pipe. I find myself in a position that is entirely new. Searching for answers, for universal truths that explain the missing pieces. Turning to God had never been an option, until my reality was exposed to me. Now I find myself believing and the faith filling me is more comforting, more compelling, and more real than anything I have experienced before.

Light of the World

On her knees, she prays for peace.
In her face they laughed.
‘God is dead’ hurled at her whispered praise
‘We are your masters now.’

Thrown back upon the ground
Spitting in her open mouth,
Her prayers bled on.

On her back, she prays for peace.
In her face they laughed.
‘God is dead’ taunted the haunted souls
‘No one comes to your aid.’

A boot thrust to her throat
Vibrating with maniacal laughter,
Her prayers seeped out.

Her eyes closed, she prays for peace.
In her face, their laughter ceased.
Tongues flicking like snakes
To disparage God, they FROZE.

God’s hand reached out
Cradling her tender throat,
She was free from their control.

On her knees, she praised God.
‘The fight is done my child.’
Physical strength matching her spirit,
‘Your peace has come.’

Brightness so powerful
The darkness burnt up in flames.
Alone with God, his light filled her.

Standing tall, she praised God.
Together they laughed
‘Your faith is strong’ Her body shook with relief.
‘Be calm, love freely, and have faith,
The light of the world is safe.’
