I have been exploring, reading everything and searching for answers in places I have never thought of going before. A resounding theme that resonates with me is light. Dark to light, dim to bright, fearful to brave, strength from within and strength in numbers. I see so many reasons to celebrate the future and rejoice in the light that is coming. The following poem is an ode, a song, for the light that shines inside me and illuminates from within. A shield of love and protection that I guard my family with, an outstretched hand toward a friend or neighbor. Let your light shine and feel the strength within you grow impenetrable.
The Light There is a light inside me, And you, and all we see. Inside, outside, upside down Upon my face, a prominent frown. History is but a myth, Created to hide the truth. Seek and you shall find, No need to be a super sleuth. There is a light inside me, And you, and all we see. Inside, outside, upside down Wipe away the diligent frown. Childhood dreams disappear, Amidst the chaos that is here. Panic, fear, distrust and hate, Fill the hearts, the human race. There is a light inside me, And you, and all we see. Inside, outside, upside down, No longer will you frown. A spark ignites into a flame, Burning brightly, illuminate. Fear can’t hold me captive, An idea begins to germinate. There is a light inside me, And you, and all we see. Inside, outside, upside down, He comes to take away all frowns. Building bridges, climbing walls, We come together one and all. No more cowering from the dark Shadows are merely a lowly lark. There is a light inside me. And you, and everything we see. Surrounded by a glowing warmth, Happiness abounds when we are free.
